This is the role

You are responsible for maintaining an optimum propylene supply-demand balance in Carrington, Rotterdam and Moerdijk against the demand of LYB PO and PP plants and the purchase from our suppliers and trading partners.

 

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Organizing continuous propylene supply to LYB Carrington,  Rotterdam and Moerdijk plants on day-by-day basis, including organizing propylene deliveries with pipelines, barges and vessels, managing changes in product consumption and supply, communicating changes to the stakeholders and taking needed actions to mitigate the impacts, monitoring jetty availability and ship requirements to minimize demurrage etc.
  • Negotiating the spot deals of procurement, sale or exchange of propylene. Maintaining close contact to our key suppliers and continuously looking for alternative supplies for propylene in and outside of Europe, including trading partners.
  • Supporting the negotiation of propylene purchase and sales term contracts in the region in close co-ordination with the Dir Ethylene & Propylene Europe and Commercial Manager Propylene Europe.
  • Coordinating demand planning with the planners in the PO/PP business.
  • Managing the contact with PP and PO plants and relative business units for information sharing and decision making.
  • Understanding the market environment and supply-demand balances of propylene in Europe, monitoring logistic movements and positions of other olefins producers and consumers and reporting such to the Dir. Ethylene & Propylene Europe , Commercial Manager Propylene Europe and other stakeholders. Advising on needs of the procurement of transportation, shipping, terminalling and storage activities in UK and Netherlands.
  • Managing of claims, quality as well as logistic (demurrage, weight) for both sales and purchase orders.
  • Support CSR in invoicing and SAP input (PO/SO) of propylene transactions for area/contracts covered.
  • Managing and coordinating the monthly and quarterly transactions for Sox control purpose.
  • As a member of propylene team supporting the other European flow managers with their supply needs.
  • Acting as a back-up for the Flow Manager in Italy.

This is what you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a comparable field of work;
  • In depth knowledge of technical and logistic aspects of the propylene markets and the industry players;
  • International experience: has been exposed to customs and practices beyond your own culture of origin, and is able to achieve results across cultural and regional boundaries;
  • Able to get results and meet challenging objectives in an efficient and effective way. Exert influence through persuasion, personal credibility, convincing argumentation etc. across various businesses and functions within our organization as well as with third parties;
  • Fluent English.
